I’m fairly new to Plex, initially playing around on my PC but now moved to a WD EX2 Ultra, I moved to the NAS as I needed Plex running 24x7 but I’m starting to understand the limitations that the NAS has.
In general this is fine for my use at home, my devices can all play content without transcoding. But I’m about to go on holiday and I’m syncing a number of Shows/Movies to my tablet, the syncing seems to be taking quite a bit of time. This got me thinking of possible options.
I’m interested to know if anyone has split the workload across two Plex servers, one server would be a low cost server that runs 24x7, this server would only be used for scheduling and recording. The second server would be more powerful with the ability to transcode content but you’d only turn it on when watching/syncing content (I don’t plan on streaming when I’m not at home).
