I see a lot mentions of improvement in yesterday Android client update to version 8.15:
- Player: crash could occur when playing an item from the postplay.
- Player: improve Live TV playback.
- Live TV: improve tune times when switching channels.
- Live TV: switching channels could be slower than expected.

Just tried it quickly (NVidia TV Shield and server version 1.22.1.4228) to kick a in progress recording from beginning and it worked!
However, I didn’t have time to give it an exhaustive testing so I’m wondering if some other folks gave it a tried and notice a firm fix on this issue and many others discussed in this thread?
I’ll keep testing it in the next days if I can catch in progress recordings… perhaps I have been just lucky…
