Start Watching Recording in Progress from Beginning(Failing)

And now Plex sends out a “Plex News” advertisement, PLEXCERPTS? Really? Complete Dad’s Mancave? With a broken DVR…Awesome! I’m beginning to think the lack of attention from anyone at Plex regarding the broken DVR service combined with the advertising campaign boasting about their DVR service constitutes fraud. As a lifetime Plex Pass member, I would like to know how to get a refund. This is the worst service ever. It’s downright embarrassing.

Yup, not very happy myself. I feel duped.

Emby’s DVR works almost flawlessly. A few ticks in the video here and there, but I am able to timeshift/delay the NBA finals as needed. Friends are happy!

Lol, my wife has also expressed her frustrations with the plex live tv after experiencing the exact same issue as jemcmullen above. Bachelorette party. She is threatening to order cable.

I also had the exact embarrassing issue with having friends over for the NBA finals.

Echoing above, web client works fine, however it won’t let you chromecast it.

Another Beta release, but no mention of a fix for this issue! Come ON!!!

I’m in beta program - just tried the new 1.16.0.1220 server on my shield using Web (Windows 10 Chrome) and Shield clients and both do not allow start from beginning while recording properly.

I see the issue on Roku, Chrome on Win10 as the client, and Android.

This is happening for me on current macOS player and Samsung 2016+ app.

So frustrating when time shifting current recordings worked for months (if not over a year) and now it’s not. Anyone not have this issue at all?

You’d think Plex employees would be able to duplicate themselves. Win 10, PMS Beta, with HD Homerun Extend

Exactly it’s so prevalent and yet we’re not hearing anything at all from Plex employees! Is anyone working on this massive issue?

I gave up on Plex tonight for DVR service. Several attempts to watch live TV and it would freeze my Plex server and I’d have to restart. After seeing no progress on this issue, I’m not starting down the path of another one. Thankfully I kept my Tablo device. It works great and they’ve started skipping commercials now too. Sucks it isn’t in one app with all my other media, but that’s a small price to pay for something that actually does what it should.

Have you tried EMBY?

I tried Emby using Nvidia Shield as the server and while watching live TV it would freeze very briefly every couple of minutes or so - almost like it’s buffering but without the spinner.

I haven’t tried Emby yet on my more powerful PC server, so I might play around with that next. I’ve shared movies with a couple of people on Plex, and just wasn’t sure if Emby worked the same way in that regard or not.

I don’t recall all the issues, but I tried Emby and it just didn’t feel “done” on top of other things (which I’ve since forgotten). I had it installed about a week before I uninstalled it. That was about 6 months ago so much isn’t likely to have changed.

Emby definitely doesn’t have the polish but I installed it again just so I could watch the US Open PGA tournament yesterday with time shifting. Worked well. Cost me a few bucks but hopefully things will be fixed in Plex before I have to pay for another month

I uploaded my logs on May 8th, then again 14days ago, yet again (at SA2000’s) request 8 days ago.

@SA2000 - If you guys have no intention on working on this bug, just let us know. We can kiss our lifetime pass goodbye and move on. This is beyond unreasonable.

I tweeted to the CTO Elan Feingold (@leafmuncher) a while ago & got no response.

I have been having this issue for a month or so. I am using Synology DS918+ for my plex server and FireTV to watch.
When I “Watch from Start” it never actually starts from the beginning it goes to live. Recently I have been able to press my back up button and it jumps back to the start of the program (even though it should only go back a few seconds)… however, if I try to skip forward or back after that it just locks up. Other times backing up just locks up immediately. I would be happy to share any logs, just need to know how to get to them.
