Total agree and adding my voice too. Please, at the very least, make the renaming an optional feature that can be toggled on/off.
+1 on this. Completely messes up folder sorting when other people not using Plex also upload to it.
Agree should be changed - by the way, if you have videos in the same folder as the pictures, the naming behaves completely differently …
Chiming in to say that it still seems like this is an issue. I was hoping to switch from Google Photos (due to the storage change) but this makes Camera Upload unusable. I need to keep my original file names.
Also coming here to state that this is unacceptable.
I would love to see a feature to choose renaming rules and subfolder organization, but in the meantime, original names must be left intact.
This honestly makes the feature useless, and if I could return my lifetime Plex pass upon finding this out I would.
Almost every single feature I bought the Plex Pass for is unusable due to some simple decision that seems to be arbitrary. Like this, or like not allowing external access to synced/offline video files.

Plex have announced the “camera upload” feature will be discontinued.
In line with this announcement, we’re closing related feature suggestions.
