I have hundreds (almost thousands) of episodes of a radio show (I guess its like a podcast, but I am not attempting to subscribe to anything, and no XML is involved). What would be the best way to store these episodes such that they can be surfaced in a Plex client? Currently I have them all in a flat folder not viewed by Plex, and the names are:
<Episode #> - - .mp3
But I can name them any way I want. I am not sure if there is a way to have these surfaced in a Music based library. Could this just be one huge album? Can mp3s be played in a Home Videos library, and if so would there be a way to get them surfaced in there?
Stick all your ‘The Shadow Meets RuPaul’ episodes in the folder structure above and you’ll need to fiddle with the track names, but I ‘re-purposed’ Alexis P. Suter Band in 5 minutes and that included going out and grabbing some artwork.
I dragged that ‘Album Cover’ into MP3Tag for the ‘Album Artwork’, but I also dropped it into The Shadow Meets Rupaul folder and called it front.jpg. I put The Shadow image in The Shadow Folder and named it The Shadow.jpg, but in a pinch you could edit and load it manually. Unfortunately The Shadow matched to a band by that name - hopefully you won’t run into that very much.
I’m sure there are other ways to do it - but the above is certainly one way.

Simply change the Agent setting of this library to ‘Personal Media Artists’ and it won’t try and match it to some band. Of course then you have to provide complete metatags and matching sidecar cover art.
Users with Plex Pass must keep in mind that the ‘audio book’ or ‘radio show’ library must not be created as a Premium Music library!
