No more votes left, but I want to add my support for this.
We have about 6 AppleTVs and several Macs and iPods and iPhones accessing the PMS, each with up to 5 accounts and every combination has to be individually configured. This is simply stupid. Especially as I’ve just set up a new PMS and so every ‘player’ has to be configured ALL OVER AGAIN. I cannot overemphasise how monumentally annoying this is.
Truth is, every single one is the same. So why do I have to do it, what 60+ times? Setting every single one to the exact same config. Why can I not set this ONCE from the admin account on the actual PMS and all users, whatever the client/player/device gets that same config?
I’m not talking about very personal choices like colours or other ‘thematic’ configuration. The big problem is setting up the nav. panel on the LHS. On many clients it is simply a PIA with each individual library having to be moved on its own. Then choose re-order and do it all again for the next one. Probably a dozen times for each player/account combo. So that means… you do the maths. It’s a LOT.
I realise it is possible that some users may have fewer libraries available to them than others, but that’s easy to cope with. Anything that’s restricted, don’t show it. Simple.
Even if I spend the time setting up every combination, if at any time I add or change a library, I have to modify every single one again.
I had forgotten how appalling this is. I gave up trying to keep everything the same, but now with the new server I’m discovering all over again what a nightmare this is.
Just when I was really enjoying some of the new features and how I generally love the way Plex works. Then this. ![]()
C’mon Plex, a monkey could do better.
