I keep randomly getting this strange error on my Android phone since being forced to update to the buggy new app. Does anyone know how to resolve this or why it might be happening? It never happened before the update.
My server is hosted on an Asustor NAS if that’s relevant.
Which version number of app? Which make/model? What type of audio is in file? I’m going to guess eac3.
Are you on a Pixel?
Afaik Pixels cannot play EAC3 so needs to be transcoded but the phone thinks it can so it tries to direct play and fails with that error. I thought this was remedied a while ago to force audio transcode so need to check with playback team
( obviously if you don’t have a Pixel may be something else and would need to know answers to questions above)
It’s version 2025.16.0, and I do not have a Pixel - I have an Oppo A9 2020 phone.
It says the audio is AAC stereo on the show I’ve been watching recently, which is where the issue has occurred a few times. I haven’t been watching anything else yet since the update.

FYI we have a ticket created for this one! The player engineers feel like it may be some sort of codec issue and will be taking a look soon. Thanks for the report.
