I just noticed that the Plex app on my phone just updated. Where do I go to see what the fixes were?
Public Release

Beta

Thanks! I wanted to know whether they’d fixed the bug whereby the player can’t handle EAC3 Audio content (so you have to uncheck it in the Optional Audio Support menu).
EAC3 works fine for me. Are you on a Google Pixel phone perhaps? I saw a thread somewhere involving playback of EAC3 and it was found to be a problem only on Google Pixel phones.
AFAIK, the EAC3 issue still exists for Pixel phones.
It is only for certain models. I’ve the Pixel 6a, which does not support EAC3. The option to enable EAC3 is greyed out and it transcodes as expected.
Indeed, I have a Pixel 8a, and EAC3 has a box that you can check and uncheck but if it’s checked it won’t play certain content. Well, at least the last time I tried. I just updated to Android 15, so things may have changed on that score. I should try it again.
BTW, when I checked after the Android 15 update, EAC3 playback was still broken in the Plex Android app.
However, if I play the same content downloaded to my phone on the VLC media player, it plays fine. Of course it could be that VLC doesn’t even try to use EAC3.
