I need a new streaming device for Plex server for a couple of my TV’s. What would be the best streaming device for streaming live Tv and a nice friendly GUI? Should I wait for the new AppleTV 4K or try some of the others like Roku, NVIDIA - SHIELD TV?
Currently my Samsung smart TV plex app does not do Live TV. I have a Dreamlink T1 with the plex app and does not play live TV very well. Slow and lagging. My apple ipad plays good.
Trying to find a good device to stream content.
Thanks
I’m very happy with my Shield. Plays everything without issues and it’s fast.
Big fan of Apple TV and roku here
I am seriously thinking about the shield. A few reasons going in that direction is the HDMI CEC support to turn on and off the TV when turning on and off the shield which my tv supports. Fast Streaming, and the ability to install Kodi as well. Seems it may be a fit all streaming device.
There’s also a version without the controller now:
I saw that listed on their site. For only the $20 difference, I may choose the whole package since it is available at our best buy. Never know when you may want the controller however I don’t game and may never use it.
I have an Apple TV (non 4K), Fire TV (4K) and LG Smart TV with Plex app. While I don’t have the nVidia Shield I strongly suspect that it would yield the best experience.
Fire TV has an interlacing problem with Plex when using something like the HDHomeRun Prime for example. If you want the Apple TV its probably best to get the newest 4K version. the nVidia Shield seems to be the most flexible solution though.

Do you use the Roku stick or the premiere? Do you play live TV and if so, does it stream well?
