Struggling with 4K HEVC HW Transcoding with GPU

What I also don’t understand is why all these h265 videos are being transcoded on a 4K Tivo on a 4K TV, instead of being direct played? Might be a limitation of the Tivo Plex client.

Does the TiVo support audio pass through?

Do you have an atmos receiver and is the TiVo plugged into the receiver?

NOTE: for 2022 – Plex has come a long way since this FAQ was originally written, HW transcoding has become more available and more stable, and tone mapping was recently added to address the hdr/sdr color conversion issues.
