Stuttering / lag on playback : help!

Hello,

Let me explain my home setup: I have a Synology DS718+ NAS with 2 Seagate Ironwolf 6 TB disks (ST6000VN0033). RAID type: RAID 0. File system: Btrfs.

The NAS is connected with 1 CAT6 ethernet cable to the built-in 4-port-switch of my ISP’s router.

I have a TP-Link TL-SG108E unmanaged gigabit switch which is connected with CAT6 cable to my ISP’s router.

I have a 7,5 meter CAT6 cable connecting this TP-Link switch to my Apple TV 4K (64GB MP7P2ZD/A).

I have the latest version of the 64-bit Plex server running on my NAS, the latest OS version on my Apple TV. The Apple TV is connected with HDMI 2.1 cable to my new TV (Samsung QE65Q70R, 4K 100 Hz, 65 inch).

Now the problem: playback of some files is stuttering (lagging). Latest experience was with a 1080p mkv file. I don’t have the Plex Pass. I turned off IPv6.

What can be the bottleneck???

Thanks in advance!

is this local streaming or remote that you are experiencing this? if local, does the file play on a pc ok? If it is only remote when that happens, you should just be able to adjust some playback settings.

Hello,

It’s local streaming (within the same network, using Apple TV as Plex client). Haven’t tried playing on PC yet…

what kind of files ? hevc ? 10bit ?
what audio ?
subtitles enbled?

do you have tautulli installed ? if not can you install it, it will give you more information about what the server is doing.

logs?

make sure DEBUG ON, VERBOSE OFF
