I’ve been using Plex Media Player (for macOS Home Theater PCs) version 2.58.0.1076-38e019da for a while now, but I think I want to start using Plex for Mac since PMP is missing some of the latest features and is having other issues like causing high CPU usage when it’s just running idle or not showing any casting devices on my local network.
However, playing something with Plex for Mac (1.27.1.1571-2fface66) gives the video an awful stutter. Even the web player in chrome doesn’t stutter this much. It’s not interruptions/buffering where the orange spinning wheel appears. The image is just very choppy when the camera pans across a scene, or rapid changes happen in the video during playback.
I’m using a MacBook Pro 13" (Early 2015) running macOS 10.15.6 (19G2021) Catalina.
Is there anything I can do to fix these issues on either of my players or are they just unoptimized?
