Subtitle codec problem?

So I’m using some agents to download subtitles for my plex automatically, such as open subtitle and shooter (downloaded from the forum here). And i notice for *most Chinese subtitles, plex is having some trouble reading it. It just shows as some random letters and such, some other times it will just cause the transcoded to fail all together…
I tried to use the srt2utf-8 agent, but doesnt seem to work…
However on the other hand, the video station app from synology reads them just fine (plus they have an option to choose codec for non-English subs), the only downside for VS is it sometimes drop frames…

Anyone knows a solution?

Srt2utf8 only works if you follow it’s documentation very closely.
But you can also convert those downloaded SRT files yourself.


For instance has a batch mode which converts all SRT files in a file or disk at once.
