Subs to display/allow to choose correct encoding for Eastern European encoded subs files

Hi,

I have a plex pass and was surprised to see that the subs are not correctly displayed nor do I have an option to set the encoding.

All other apps I use to watch movies have this feature since long time ago.

Can you mention when this will be taken into account as an enhancement request?

Subtitles in SRT format are only properly supported across all Plex apps and devices if the SRT files are encoded in the UTF-8 standard.
Reason is that the subtitles are, if ever possible, displayed by the native player on the various devices. Many of these native players don’t support any other character encodings.

Convert your subtitles to UTF-8. It is the future anyway.
There is even a plugin for Plex available which does this automatically for you.
