Subtitle offset by sec in addition to millisec

Right now subtitle offset only supports 50ms steps.
My movie had ~2 min difference, I had to press this button over 2,000 times to sync subtitles with the audio track. Would have been nice to have +/- 1 sec in addition to 50 ms. This was already raised in Subtitles offset step size.

Coming to Bazarr soooooooon.

I think the better solution here would be to find the proper subtitles that are timed for the version of the video you have. A two minute offset is completely absurd.

already did - but what I’m asking for is much lower effort to implement as a stopgap solution.

I spent over 1.5 hours looking for the right one before resorting to this, believe me… yet pressing the button 2000 times was still faster than the time I spent looking for the right subtitle.

Been there, so I sympathize with your situation. I’ve just never had the bad luck of finding one that was so far off. Usually it’s not more than a few seconds at worst, but I have had some as bad 10 to 15 seconds.

Another option might be to edit the subtitle file itself. There is a really nice piece of FREE, open source software, cleverly named Subtitle Edit. It has lots of features, one of which is adjusting the timing offset for the entire file so you don’t have to edit every single line individually, which would greatly help with your current situation.

I started using it a few months ago when I first discovered it, and have slowly been learning about more and more of the features. I have to say that I am very impressed with it’s ability to manipulate and fix problems in subtitles, from timing issues, to spelling, etc.

I’m not sure what the policy is here with linking to other sites, so if you were to Google “subtitle edit nikse”, it should be the first non-ad result in the list.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into it next time, but I still think a built-in solution extending the current product would be much simpler and better UX (and not much overhead vs. the current implementation).

A maybe easier to implement alternative could be the possibility to press and hold the +50MS and -50MS buttons.

Apologies for jumping in late.
There’s already a feature suggestion for that exact topic. That thread has been around a little longer and gained a little more support.

I’ll close this thread to avoid distracting votes from each other.

This will free up your votes and make them available so you can vote in that other thread.
