Subtitle selection

Hi Guys,

I set my plex account to prefer english audio and english subtitles. I’ve got videos with subtitles inside the mkv container. My plex server agents finds additional english subtitles which is fine.

The strange thing is that plex prefers the external english subtitles instead of the build subtitles. Is this the normal behavior, or is this a setting I can change?

With external you mean those subs which are fetched automatically
or do you mean those which you placed beside the video file yourself?

If it is the latter, then yes, this is the expected behaviour. If you prefer the embedded subtitle, what is the point in placing an additional, external subtitle beside it?

If it is the former, then that’d be a bug.

This is then not the intended behaviour.

Could you please do the following:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 2 minutes
  6. Play one movi, where you haven’t ‘touched’ the subtitle selector yourself (because if you do this, the automatic selection is disabled for this movie)
  7. Play the movie for one minute, then stop
  8. fetch log files and attach them here

That way we can supply the developers with all they need to investigate this.
