I’m hoping the Plex engineers are able to prevent this.

Taking all the ‘geek’ out of it…
Because of how Plex uses the subtitle files, it is extremely unlikely a virus can pass through the video processing to the target player.
Engineering is trying to ‘break it’ anyway to be certain.
As additional information (just got this from asking engineering)
To answer your question: Plex is not vulnerable
