Subtitles, handbrake, MKV etc

Hi. If i rip a dvd using MakeMKV i get no subtitles, when streaming via plex from my mac, to my aptv3, even though i select the subtitles. The subtitles are there in VLC. I tried downloading a new set of subtitles for different movies, but they are always out of sync or seem to be done by google translate. I would much rather like to go with the original subtitles.
On top of that the video stutters a lot if i select any original subtitle and the aspect ratio is off when subtitles are selected.

If i rip a DVD using MakeMVK and then recode it in Handbrake i can get subtitles without any problems. The problem is that it doesnt look as good as the MakeMVK file. Im pretty picky about picture quality and i would like to somehow put the MKV file through Handbrake, in order to get subtitles working, but without any quality loss. The problem is there doesnt seem to be a way to do a “losless” in Handbrake.
Any suggestions?
Thanks:)

It might be helpful to provide what settings you used with handbrake that resulted in IQ you weren’t happy with. Issue with MKV’s is spotty when played via aTV. The aTV really wants m4v (mp4). Granted IQ output is subjective therefore my acceptable BR rip may not be up to other’s. However, IMO handbrake has provided very good results for us with BD rips when shown on the 55" plasma & the 42" lcd via aTV’s through an hdmi feed.

Hmm I think i might have found a configuration that i like for my ripped DVD’s. It only took me about 3 days!
I use h64. Set RF to about 15 for DVDs, about 18 for Blu rays. Medium speed incoding.

So i’ll just stick with that. But thanks for the input:)
