Might seem like a strange suggestion, but this would allow third party apps to connect Plex with smart lighting, such as Philips Hue. This way, you could be watching a video and the lights would sync up with the screen.
I think it would need to be able to get the information from the server side, not the player, because you would want to be able to use it on any TV, Console, whatever Plex app. I’ve done a ton of digging, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to extract color information from the video being played through the API.
