I really enjoy seasonal television / movie that always come in with the random holidays. Recently, Hulu added a really cool new section to their UI called, “Huluween”. It looks very similar to the Home Screen on Plex. The top row, instead of being, “Continue Watching” with large images, is a “Featured” for random movies and shows. It then has category breakdowns like, “Slasher Movies” and “Psychological Thrillers”. What is also really nice is that it combines TV+Movie into the single view. So it also recommends horror television right next to the horror movies. It even had a section for “Halloween Episodes” and listed specific episodes for various shows so you could jump straight into one of those.
I really hope Plex can do something similar, or at least provide an ‘advanced collection’ type system that will allow us to creat our own versions of this. Between Halloween and Christmas some of my favorite movies and shows are on, and having them pre-sorted into a nicer layout would really be great.
