Support for Streaming Services

I’ve seen older discussions on this topic over the years, but as time moves forward I think it’s worth asking again. Once upon a time Netflix was available, but that was dropped (as I understand it) because of a change on Netflixs’ side.

Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc etc all have their own streaming services and apps for lots of platforms, but honestly, they all suck. Couple that with having to remember which services which show/movie is on makes it a pain.

Plex, on the other hand, has a brilliant interface with filtering and sorting options which would be fantastic to leverage as a front end to all the other services.

With Plex, I don’t know if it’s plausible or possible, if it can be done on the back end or if it needs to be implements on the player side. Does the content have to go through plex or is there a way to just grab the meta data? Would it require all the apps to be installed and somehow punch out to their players on demand then fall back to Plex once finished?

I’m already a Plex Plus subscriber, but if I could get this sort of front end across my services with all the power that Plex brings I’d happily move to a Plex Plus Ultra Super plan and throw a few more dollars in for this ability.

The wish list:
Single dashboard for all content
Ability to dive into each service discretely
Recommendations across all services that are subscribed to (also don’t show me content I can’t play (or maybe a toggle to show content from non subscribed/paid services)).
Back end suggestions for local library cleaning eg duplicate detection and if higher quality version of the same content available for streaming flagged for potential local deletion.
Integration for upcoming releases.

The AppleTV “TV” app does provide some of the amalgamation functionality… but that one is a total dumpster fire. Of course I understand when you have (literally) all the money in the world, everything is possible.

Which leads to the question, is this a financial problem where it’s too expensive to implement? Or is it a techincal one where it’s not possible? (and could access to the required APIs be negotiatied and purchased making it more a financial problem?).

I can dream right?
