Surround Sound Music

Server Version#: Version 1.18.3.2156

I have a number of ‘Super Deluxe’ albums that include 5.1 album tracks and in one case 7.1 album tracks.

I’ve ripped the blu ray to MKV files, but I’m struggling to know how to save the files down. For 5.1 I’ve saved as ac3 files. As my Plex won’t scan MKV files as music, how do I save down 7.1 audio tracks?

Thanks

well, you can either leave them in mkv and store them in a ‘misc videos’ library

or convert the audio to multi channel flac files.

another option might be multi channel alac, but I never used that myself.

Multi-channel FLAC sounds an option. I’ll try. thanks

Handbrake will mix down your audio in a mkv container and use a video Library

I don’t think he doesn’t want to downmix, he wants to keep multi channel, but plex does not recognize mkv as an audio/music file, so he needs to extract/convert the mkv multi channel audio to a file type plex will accept as music (no video).

I have a Shield TV Pro and a vsx933 reciever. I can’t for the life of me get Plex to play any 5.1 FLAC files
