You are missing the point, just because “you are willing to bet 95% of people don’t care about the credits” doesn’t mean you are correct, and it doesn’t make the credits irrelevant either. Nobody is sitting through the credits “looking for something” it’s just nice to reflect on what you have just seen and enjoy the music without your screen being spammed with things enticing you to click them. And it also doesn’t matter how small or transparent the button is, it’s still there. But as long as you can turn the feature off there is no problem with it existing, it’s only a problem if it is forced on you with no option to disable like Netflix does.
Exactly my thoughts… it cheapens my tv!
So can we change it!?
I can understand why they went with the “Plex Free Movies and TV” button on the Roku. Most people who use a Roku probably install their subscription services on it, Netflix, Hulu, DizzyPlus, ect. Then they go looking around at what else is offered, all the ad-based free services. Plex is starting to go that way and without it, would probably get passed over.
Second, there are quite a few folks running their plex server as a subscription service, charging people to view their content. Short of just shutting down server sharing, the easiest way to combat this is with the “Free Movies and TV” button. Imagine the kr@p that comes their way when after subscribing and paying for the “service” their “subscribers” see that “Free” button.
Personally, I don’t have a problem with it, I can disable the ad-based stuff if I want. I haven’t, every once in a while I’ll see something that I’ll want to watch…once…and not have to invest in obtaining the physical media.

Plex is downplaying the self streaming aspect everywhere, so theyre not going to fix this. Check the ios store page and youll see what I mean, self hosting is a tiny footnote.
The level of baseless entitlement in this thread is hilarious.
