Hello. I have the this situation. I have my PMS updated with all my libraries etc. I want to create a second server for a friend with some of my libraries. Is it possible to sync the metadata of my “Movies” library to the new PMS since it has the same movies without having to fetch all the metadata agin from the internet? My main issue is that most of the movies are not recognized by automated match or they get the wrong match and I have to go through thousands of movies my hand to correct everything. I just need the movie information not the watched flags
Install PMS on the other computer. Run through the setup ignoring everything. Once that is done, exit PMS.
Copy your Plex Media Server Appdata folder from the original computer and copy it over to the new computer over-writing the files on there.
Restart PMS on the new computer, sign into Plex Web and claim the server if you didn’t do this the first time around.
Thanks for the reply. But this way I am actually copying all my library metadata to the new server. I need only one library and wiyhout the watched/unwathed info
All of that info is in the database so it’s all or nothing. The only way around that is to manually modify the database to remove the watched status info and all the other libraries you don’t want. Once the info is gone from the database, Plex will clean up the actual metadata information and remove any unused ones.
I you are not good with databases, I wouldn’t recommend trying this. This is quite involved and can lead to issues if not done correctly.
