Sync on Linux

Server Version#: latest

Simple question, I’m sure the answer is anything but: is there a way to sync on Linux? I have a phone with limited storage capacity, but a computer that runs linux with much less limited storage – is there a simple way to leverage that?

The best solution I’ve found so far (but have yet to set up) is to use a separate system (rsync/resilio/etc) to sync the files between my server and my local computer, then set up a plexmediaserver on my local computer which serves that content. This is obviously pretty tedious and requires a nontrivial amount of extra steps.

I read about the “coming soon” support for Linux for the HTPC beta – is that on the order of weeks or months or years? Is there a source available I can build on my own?

Is there any planned support for sync in plex-web when FileSystem - Web APIs | MDN gets a stable release?

Thanks in advance!

So far only the mobile apps and the regular desktop apps (Plex for Mac / Windows) support syncing / downloading media within the player. Plex HTPC or Plex Web don’t have that feature.

If I remember correctly, there used to be a remark about getting a Linux version of the regular desktop app too (which probably also would have included the sync/download feature) – though that has yet to happen… not sure what that means about the “coming soon” for Plex HTPC on Linux.
That leaves you with no native option to download/sync media to that Linux machine of yours.
