First of all, my apologies if this has been suggested before. I did a quick check of the forum and I couldn't really find something like this.
Description:
I have multiple Plex servers right now, 2 to be exact. Both servers have media, movies / series. Most of the time I watch something on server a, which has a good connection and plenty of CPU power if needed. Whenever I've watched the media or I want to watch it at a later time, I will move it to server b) which has a bad(ish) uplink connection.
So I don't know if it would be possible but it would be really nice to be able to move 1 item from server A) to server B) and not lose the information, like did you see it, did you start it? etc.
I know that this would make the database potentially larger and it might confuse the Plex server a bit more, but in the long run, I think it would be worth it.
So, one of the 2 servers is hooked up to a very good and stable connection, not at my place. The other server, has a way slower connection and is also, not located at my place :-). Right now I'm using the Raspberry pi with the xbmc and rasplex plugin to see my series. It works kinda nice over the internet and I don't have the need for a local server anymore.
The first server has limited storage, so I need to off-load media to the secondary server if I want to keep it.
Thanks for the tip already, I will have a look at it.

This is exactly why I asked the question before. I have two "identical" servers: one on a fast remote location and one at home. I sync the data between the two with inotify/rsync. The idea was to always stream from remote unless I am home.
I stopped looking into this a bit ago and just dealt with streaming everything remotely, which has worked perfectly. My home server is now just a replica of my data ( for backup purposes ) as there are too many hacks to try and make two servers work together. I also have a fast enough connection at home to direct play all my content anyways ( let's just hope the bw caps don't come into play )
Sounds similar to my suggestion here which I was suggesting to come in once SSL is standard. When I have the setup for the remote end I will now look into the suggestion made by trininox in my thread
