Hi
I have a problem syncing films which have a file size of greater than 3gb - is there a reason for this? Is there a file size setting limit somewhere? I’m syncing to Android.
Anyone else having these problems?
Cheers
Matt
Are the memory cards you are syncing to formatted as NTFS or extFAT?
If not, 3gig IS the file size limit for media storage devices (FAT32) NOT in those formats. (BTW usually the default format for SD cards or MicroSD cards is FAT. You need to change that when you format a card to extFAT when initializing devices for Android)
On Android I recommend extFAT as that format IS more widely compatible across all Android devices. Not all Android implementations support NTFS.

Just curious if that solved your problem??
Pretty sure it is not a Plex problem but would be nice to know for sure otherwise someone would need to work on this issue.
Thanks.

I formatted another sd card exfat and tried again but the same thing happens. The film does not even start converting and hangs “Waiting to be converted” in the Plexsync screen.
Thanks
and when i’ve replaced my original sd card plex plex android isn’t recognising the previously syncd content…
Well
Sooo Sorry. That was my best guess.
Now you are completely broken…
Maybe a Plex type can answer here…
That has always been the issue for me with larger than 3gig media files on Android
No worries - i didn’t have many items syncd so i’ve redone the original ones.
It does seem strange that files >3gb don’t convert or try and download.
Yup
It is a fact that if your cards are not formatted extFat the limit is 3gig file size…
That’s a limitation of the FAT filesystem…
hold on a second. I reformatted my sd card in my android phone to resync my files, and afterwards i thought i’d try a 10gb film and it worked. So it may have been slow to recognise the format of the sd card… well whatever … it seems to have worked.
Thanks for your help.
