I need to move to a new storage device since my drobo kicked the bucket and the company is in limbo. I am thinking of the synology ds1621+.
However I am been reading reviews and seeing the 4K videos do not play well since there is no on board graphic card.
Has anyone seen this problem when installing the plex server on the synology? I have mostly 4K videos and would rather play natively instead of being downgraded to 1080p.
Not see if I can add a graphics card to the synology unit through the pci slot to deal with this.
I understand the 920 will play 4K but it’s slower overall from what I read.
I can continue to run the pms on my m1 Mac mini but wanted to see if I can speed the whole process of plex on the network and cut out the Mac mini middleman.
Any thoughts please.
