Server Version#: 1.30.1.6497
Player Version#: 1.60.1.3413-533a7645 and Version 4.97.3 and Plexamp and Plex Dash
Having lots of issues with server local access lately @ChuckPa
Can access outside over internet - no issues.
I have pfSense for years and rebounding
server:
private-domain: “plex.direct”
is there.
on LAN can only use Windows App via Nord VPN !!!
Plex app on iphone is working fine on home WiFi
Plex Dash and Plexamp - does not.
I can click on NAS PLEX icon and it will see server via Chrome:
http://192.168..:32400/web/index.html#!/
but will not see it if I put in :
https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/web/general
as well if I try Windows App without first turning on VPN.
Apple TVs can’t see server nether
It started couple of month ago.
Reinstalled phSense, even updated it to Plus version - no luck.
At least one more person here reported same exact issue…
If any one have suggestions - please help.
How many LAN interfaces do you have defined ?
Are all the devices on the same subnet ?
I defined 2 separate LANs but only one LAN is in use (LAN2 doesn’t connected to any hardware at the moment). All devices are on the same subnet on LAN. Flex work on iphone but PlexAmp and Plex Dash do not see server on the same iphone at the same time!
Is the LAN segment RFC-1918 compliant ?
Is pfSense the actual edge (outermost) router or are you running two routers (ISP provided + pfsense) ?
I’m not an expert but most likely it is RFC-1918 compliant from what I can figured online.
My network looks like this : Verizon fios Ethernet line from external box → pfSense appliance → basic unmanaged 8 port 1GB switch (-> wifi AP->phones/tablets/Apple TVs) → unmanaged 4 port 10GB switch → PCs/NAS
no 2 routers and no vLans etc. everything on the same subnet
Before few month ago Plex worked perfectly for years. Since May I having problem with updates - need to reclaim updates everytime and from around September can’t use anything on local network other then Plex on iPhone.
If I may draw it out?
ISP (WAN address) → pfSense box → LAN to Switch → devices
This point – is more interesting.
If you need to reclaim the server a lot, I suspect there is a problem with the file system, pms internal files/permissions, or config.
Can you please do the following:
- Verify DEBUG logging is enabled, VERBOSE logging is disabled.
- SAVE if you make changes
- Restart PMS
- Wait 3 minutes
- Stop PMS
- FIleStation → PlexMediaServer → AppData → Plex Media Server
- Right-click ‘Logs’ → ‘Compress to Logs.zip’
- Download from the Syno and attach here please.
That is correct - if I do not “reclaim” rather just update I’m losing ability to see server from outside of my network most of the time. You’ve helped me before to learn how to reclaim server with updates after switching to 7.1 or so on Syn Nas in May.
Logs.zip (3.7 MB)
I see where there were crashes.
At the moment, PMS had Remote Access listed as active but isn’t publishing your LAN addresses as it should.
This is why there’s no local device access.
You have the Virtual Machine Manager running ?
Is PMS running on the native DSM or in a VM / Virtual DSM?
(If so, turn the Virual Machine Manager off AND Virtual Switch off )
no VM, native DSM 7.1.1-42962 on Synology DS1819+
I’m using native DSM app currently version 1.30.1.6497-7000
There are problems with 1.30.0 and 1.30.1
I recommend 1.29.2 for stability sake until Engineering gets the fixes released.
Do you still have 1.29.2 or need I grab a link?
I still have 1.29.2.6364 file from 11/8/22
Can I downgrade to it? I have feelings problems started earlier than that…
On Synology-
- Uninstall with KEEP option (1st radio button)
- Now install lower version.
- Allow database to readjust after first start
Downgraded to 1.29.2.6364 but nothing changed…
HOLD UP…
I’m discussing this with Operations. There is data missing from your Plex.tv record.
I’m trying to understand / find out why.
Upgraded to latest 1.30.1.6562-7000 and still no luck.
Doesn’t work locally.
Is there any way to fix it?
For the moment, I’d like you to stay on 1.29.2 until we get this resolved.
I know 1.29.2 is extremely stable.
Given you have the other LAN interface defined but not used, I’d remove it.
Work to simplify until we get known working again.
Understood.
Removed secondary LAN - didn’t helped.
1.29.2 - didn’t helped nether. And it already stopped responding once - had to restart the app.
Anything else should I try to resolve this issue? Kinda missing normal Plex operation on my TVs…
Looks like 1.30.2.6563-7000 fixed it! Work locally and Server is finally “Nearby”!!!
Thank you for your help!
