Is synchronous / tandem playback on the dev roadmap?

Are you familiar with the Watch Together feature?

Note: Use different accounts on each player. Managed Users are fine.

For true video synchronization a video splitter is better. Watch Together is the same as hitting Play at the same time, but isn’t frame-perfect.

Yes aware of it. I’ve framed my question to the Plex devs to respond about a roadmap question that’s seemingly missing from Plex and would be immensely useful.

I’m proposing to control playback across multiple playback device from one playback device without the need to go between rooms and selecting the video to play.

Using Watch Now is great but first off you have to be logged in as a different user on every playback device, and also have to run between each room, go to the “watch together” section and accept the invite before playback begins.

What I’m looking for which many have asked before, is a simple way to play the same file across multiple playback devices on a LAN without all this running around.

Throwing extra hardware at this isn’t the solution. Plex is geared to replace an array of expensive hardware products like Crestron, Control4 and HDMI baluns, by using software.

The question is whether this is on the roadmap and when can we expect it.

Gotcha.

You’ve probably noticed that Plex rarely comments about future plans.

If you’re interested in taking things into your own hands, what you describe is pretty easy today with a very small amount of Python.

It’s my first time using it for this purpose, and while composing this message, I played a movie to two different Plex Players, using 10 lines of copied & pasted code.
