How do I tar the root system?
The command line I typed:
tar -cvpf ~/root.tar /* --exclude=proc/* --exclude=sys/* --exclude=dev/pts/* --exclude=flash/*
It stops
lib/firmware/ar5523.bin
lib/firmware/ar7010.fw
tar: read error: Input/output error
RasPlex:/ #
Is there another directory I should not include or …?

Why would you want to, there is an option to backup Rasplex in System Settings.

It’s because I wish to create a custom NOOBS os. The underlying reason is so that my wife can switch between OSMC, RasPlex, and RetroPi 
Resolved: restored my settings to another SD card and I was able to tar the root filesystem. I guess it was a bad SD card.
