When will Plex (the company) just buy out Tautulli and fully integrate it into Plex (the app)? It is amazing and everyone should have seamless access to such rich and beautiful data about their usage.
I would ask why does it need to be integrated?
Tautulli works great as it is. I would see only a very minor (possible) benefit to having them integrated, but for the effort it would take and bugs that could be introduced it seems like they are better off being separate.
The biggest benefit (my personal use of Tautulli of course) is to get a detailed view of current streams and transcoding sessions. It would be nice to show a bit more details in the Activity tab natively in Plex (codecs are shown, but bitrates would be of great help as well).
Tautulli works great as it is. I agree. BUT… As a separate install it gets a much smaller user base. As a separate URL it gets checked less frequently and less easily than it could. I would love to see that activity button open the Tautulli dashboard full all sorts of analytic goodness instead of just a single “this is playing on the upstairs TV right now” the Now Playing section currently provides. A lot of your user base would benefit from the activity history and stats as a way to police their kids viewing habits or to see what the babysitter was letting them watch while you were out. Think beyond your own usage as an IT guru and picture how non IT consumers with multiple members in the household use the product. I ran Plex for many years before I found out that Tautulli existed and the lack of a viewing history was an annoyance the entire time. I’m sure there is a significant portion of your user base that would want the increased visibility it offers but just don’t know that it exists and/or don’t want to fight with a second install.
