Tell Plex server to transcode DTS MA-7.1 and TrueHD 7.1 to DD (or DTS) 5.1 when using Google TV

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: 8.27.2.29938 (or 6.2.42.70 in the Play store)

I’ve picked up a new Sony A80J TV with Google TV (updated Android TV) and am now having problems with the sound. I have Passthrough set to On to pass the digital signal through to my Marantz Receiver since I’m not using the TV speakers and that works most of the time. However, whenever I try to play anything with a DTS MA-7.1 or TrueHD 7.1 soundtrack it too is direct streamed even though the receiver only supports 5.1 audio. I would have thought that Google TV would query the receiver to see what it supports and transcode what it doesn’t, but apparently not. The result is inconsistent and generally laggy audio. If I try setting Plex to transcode all audio it is transcoding to stereo for some reason. Unlike my other streaming devices that have a setting to output audio in DD (or DTS) 5.1 I don’t see this kind of setting in the Google TV Plex app settings. Is there some way I can tell Plex to direct play everything but 7.1 sound, and to transcode that to a 5.1 stream instead? I don’t mind editing a config file on the TV if necessary.

As a follow-up, a different way of asking this might be:
How can I tell my Google TV’s Plex app what audio codecs my receiver supports?
