After reading a rant of ‘my server isn’t working and it’s your fault’, the last post in the thread said something simple: ‘works fine for me’… This caused me to look at my billing history.
This October will be my 11 year anniversary with plex. My library has grown from a couple TB to,well, LOTS MORE. Through all the growing pains, bugs, features and everything else, my server has been up and running! In this time the partnership between my library and plex has been far more solid that what public streaming services has been.
One day it’ll be time to pass my passion off to a new family member. Once a hobby, now a family legacy.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your backup solution? I have everything backed up on HDDs, which I store. My greatest anxiety is losing years of work.

I’m (STILL) running everything off of USB drives plugged into a Manhattan USB hub. It’s low-tech, it’s cheap. The thought of a more elegant solution has just gotten crazy expensive to move the library. Running it this way works just fine for the handful of simultaneous streams I have.
So, for every USB drive I have a backup. When the drives are filled - and no longer require regular backup - I remove them and put them up. I have a backup USB for every ‘live’ drive. When a drive dies (maybe 2 a year), I just pop in the backup and Plex doesn’t know the difference. I get in quite a hurry to get a replacement. It takes a while to back up an entire drive! Ttl system is around 120TB.
Wow, 120 TB! Half that and growing here. Thanks for the reply. I similarly have a backup for each internal drive for an easy swap. I’ll just stay vigilant!
I use FreeFileSync myself. Due to a goof of own design, I recently recovered 22TB in 24 hours using it.
