'The butler performed loudness analysis'...

Certain players (iOS and Android right now) have loudness leveling options, which you can disable.

Just set the preference to “never” and make sure the feature is disabled in the apps.

@Hondacber

  • it does not modify your files.
  • it scans them and stores the loudness info in the plex db.
  • the loudness info is not used until it is enabled on the player
  • this isn’t loudness compression (which makes soft and loud sounds about the same volume)
  • its essentially like replay gain but instead of being stored in the file tags it is stored in the plex db

where you would want to use it is on random/shuffle play where different tracks are different loudness and you want to avoid adjusting the speaker volume.

like if you listen to music while sleeping, you don’t want that one loud song to wake you up (or your significant other, or kid(s)), songs will play at similar volume but not necessarily at exactly the same volume.

But for me it is to low. I need an adjustment settings to turn the db up a little for all albums/title.

Is this still for music only? If yes, does anyone know if there is any attempt or work to add this to video files? I have noticed that my movies or tv shows have drastically different volume levels. this would be a fantastic feature for movies.

Thanks
