The contents of most music playlists keep disappearing

I have 16 music playlists in Plex that previously worked properly. None of the playlists are smart. Although all playlists still have folders, twice in the last three days Plex deleted all of the contents of eight lists, mostly deleted the contents of seven, and left one totally intact. There is a closed Dec 18 series of posts that described the issue but didn’t identify a cause or cure. The list that is unscathed has survived two extinction events but the others keep depopulating. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are the media files stored on an external drive, or any device that might “sleep?” If so, make sure Plex is not configured to “Empty trash automatically after every scan.” If Plex does a periodic scan while the storage device is asleep, it will assume the media has been deleted, and remove them from your libraries.
