While my overall feelings are mixed when it comes to the latest version updates. Most of the changes seem to be in favor of style over function. However, what was the deal breaker for me was the missing playback options settings. Especially being able to turn off forced landscape mode. In todays world a lot of videos are being recorded vertically and when played back in the new app it makes for a really terrible experience with an extremely small video with large black bars on the sides. In the old app you could turn off the forced landscape and those videos when you turned you phone upright it would take up the whole screen with no black bars.
I would be happy to go back to the newest versions if this option was added back. Until then I’ll stick with the latest version before the new interface was adopted.
That option isn’t available on any new version I downloaded. it doesn’t show up while playing a video or anywhere else in the app. I saw a screenshot posted by staff here but it has since disappeared.
Anyways. I know where to find the option. It’s not appearing on any new app I have downloaded. So, on my end it is either a bug or hasn’t been fully rolled out yet to everybody.
If it’s the same like on my devices: Nothing, because the playback menu doesn’t open. You would need to swipe it up first, in order to see it, after tapping the menu point.
EDIT: Screenshot, here you go. I circled the “playback options menu”.
