I prefer my own library folders/names on the sidebar as before. I could arrange the order. Your categories are not arrangeable as the sidebar previously. If this is part of your new business plan for streaming…I’m not good with it, you seemed to have prioritized it for streaming and your live and streaming options. PLEX is/was an escape from commercials and DVD/BLURAY players. Very disappointed. Any alternative applications someone can suggest?
Absolutely agree - new interface is clunky & poorly designed & on top of that - completely broke the app on one of my two firesticks.
Now I can’t even use plex on my living room TV.
There’s a few options out there, Jellyfin seems to be the most popular
I cant even find a way to view my favorite streaming channels. The new interface is slow and difficult to use. Maybe its time to switch to jellyfin.
I absolutely agree. It was bad enough on my Android phone but I didn’t use it that much (I use PLEXAMP more) but this is absolute garbage. Is Plex trying to drive away long time users?
I guess Plex is prioritize advertisers over their users.
I could live with most of the changes but the removal of the left side menu makes it infinitely worse.
It just doesn’t make any logical sense. I might have to look at Jellyfin also.
Why is your first response always the nuclear approach? There are third-party clients at the very least.
And Jellyfin clients are far from ideal anyway.
People can make, and are making 3rd party Plex clients.
I hate it. It’s so bad.
I feel like I have to make extra clicks just to browse my folders.
who signed off on this!?
My friend has ROKU and Plex on it is awful! Today my Fire TV set booted up and said a new Plex update was available! NO NO NO NO! Thank GOD I Googled what is going on! Plex is destroying our old interface so they can promote ad pop-ups and rentals! No if, and, or BUTS! Lock down your system! Last year I rolled back my Android devices to an earlier version of Plex! And locked out Google updates! Time for me to start going back to mini pc’s add Kodi, and the Plex add-on! One benefit very easy to stream locally without the internet! Over the internet, I will be dragging my Feet till I have to change to another.
PLEX has abandoned its CORE BASE!
I’m extremely disappointed with Plex at the moment. Since the latest update, I’m getting the dreaded “wheel of death” constantly, everything feels sluggish, and the experience has become incredibly frustrating.
Does anyone from Plex actually read these comments and take them seriously?
Is there any way to uninstall the current version and reinstall the previous version on an Amazon Fire TV Cube? If so, I’d really appreciate some guidance, because the previous version worked perfectly for me.
Why has Plex made these changes? It feels like the user experience has gone backwards rather than forwards.
I also think Plex users need to start pushing much harder for real-time customer support. Having to submit a form and wait for a response is simply not acceptable when an update breaks the service people are paying for and relying on.
Plex — please listen to your users. We need a stable, responsive app and proper support when things go wrong.
I replaced PLEX with JellyFin and love it… .no issues so far, and even better, no clunky interface and no pay-per-whatever-they-want -to-try-to-charge-for-next.
You could do both really. There are multiple clients that work with both Plex and Jellyfin. So you change the client first to escape interface issues here, and then later on if/when you change the server to Jellyfin there will be little difference to the people who use your server since the app will be the same.
Took me about 15 mins to get Jellyfin working using Ai help. Maybe one day if plex comes back to us users ill come back to plex.
That was actually my point, sorry for not stating it more clearly. Some folks seem to jump to “dump Plex entirely” as the solution before “hey, there are other clients.”
For me it’s slow on my firestick, and UI selections are glitchy. Hoping this gets fixed and runs better on my other GoogleTV device in the house when it arrives there.
Not a fan of flash > performance Plex.. Fix the “gameplay”, then worry about the graphics later?
New version really sucks on FireTV stick. Why do they fix something that is not broken? I wish I could rollback to the old version.
Not broken, but features like hover over library items and seeing a live video preview like you see in other streaming platforms is lagging behind.
Can we all agree that Winamp had one of the best media interfaces…ever?
Yeah this update has driven me to find posts like this one. It is so bad. Videos that used to play within a couple of seconds now take 30 seconds to buffer. But it gets worse, even if you seek / jump back 10 seconds, the buffering restarts. What are we doing here Plex?
Just tried to watch a movie. The play speed, interface, and navigation is so screwed I think it gave me syphilis.
I agree.
The new update is absolute rubbish. The app is much harder to navigate; it takes longer than before. What’s more, there are glitches – I’ve just spotted one. When playing a film, if I press a button on the remote to skip to chapters, the player stretches the film, completely distorting it. You have to go to the settings menu, select the playback options and switch from ‘Letterbox’ to ‘Stretch’ and back to ‘Letterbox’ again. And if you press the up or down button on the remote again, the film’s picture changes yet again.
This update is rubbish. Not to mention that it used to be in Spanish, and now everything’s in English. Why? And if you can’t be bothered to translate things, at least tell users where they can translate it themselves.
Another problem with this update is that the film descriptions, which used to all be in Spanish (Spain), now often appear in Latin American Spanish. Spain doesn’t use the same film titles as Latin America! And where something used to be fine and work properly, now it doesn’t!
I hope you fix this update, or at least provide a tutorial explaining how to revert to the previous version. This is absolute rubbish!
