They mentioned that the new Plex experience was already released to Fire TV, but I have not seen it so far. When will this happen and any updates on the Android version for the Onn TV devices?
Fire TV is a slow rollout, they said it could take a few weeks for everyone to get it. Not sure about android.
Any Links to a video showing this update?
You’ve posted elsewhere saying you didn’t want this new UI. Have you not even seen it yet?
I saw the one for Android on my car stereo, and my Galaxy Phone removed it! Installed the older version! I own FireTV set and was wondering what that is going to look like! The last crap we got on smartphones totally MESSED up how easy Plex used to be.
It’s the same UI you had on your Firestick Select
I finally upgraded Plex on the in-law’s FireTV to the older version… but I got pulled away before I could tell it not to downgrade to the new UI… and it’s the new UI again…
So I guess I have to do it all over again…
Amazon is going to make it so you can’t sideload apps in a coming update, just as an FYI. I’d do it sooner rather than later!
I upgraded it again, so at the moment we’re okay.
But the icon doesn’t say “Plex” so it’s not as easy for the Seniors to find it.
I tried installing an alt launcher, but I can’t get it to load when the “home” button is pressed.
Not impressed with the new app.
can’t see a way of altering subtle size and don’t want to see Plex tabs along the top - I’ve always “unpinned” them.
I use Plex to stream MY OWN media, not interested in plex’s ad supported offerings.
this new UI is not as intuitive as the older one. if i could i would use a different app to watch my collection.
Have you taken a look at Plezy or PM4k that runs on Kodi? I’ve played with them and they are pretty useable. I’ve still got the old Plex app which I use the most. I also have auto-update turned off for it.
So, why haven’t you disabled the ad-supported content on your account completely then?
I had it “un pinned” from the home screen with the “old” app, can the same be done with the new one? If it can, can you tell me how? when you say “disable the ad supported content” - can you tell me how to do that?
Update - I turned off a few things (server side) and it has cleaned up the “new” app interface - thanks for the suggestion. I no longer have the “discover” and “live TV” tabs at the top of the screen of the “what’s on” section under my libraries in the body of the app.
Any ideas on if it’s still possible to change the size of subtitles?
I don’t. I still have the old app.
I have both the Fire TV 4K Max and Fire Cube (latest edition) devices. I still have not received the new Plex experience on them. I hate that the release is so slow. Is that on Plex’s end or Amazon’s end?
DON’T DOWNLOAD THE FIRE TV APP UPDATE. YOU WILL REGRET IT WITH EVERY FIBER OF YOUR BEING AND WILL CONSIDER FORGETTING ABOUT WATCHING ANYTHING EVER AGAIN. I don’t know if they hired the people who used to test, by not testing, Windows updates back in the 00’s but nobody with a pulse has been reviewing these updates. Fellow Plex subscribers, do not download this new update. Wait for 6 months to see if they can fix it first. You have been warned.
You don’t want this update. It is seriously unstable and not able to decipher local TV listings or any subtitles on owned content. Nightmare.
This update has been in the works for over a year now. They aren’t backing down. We’ve been screaming from the rooftops this entire time, they simply do not care. They have investors they have to appease and this is the direction their money is taking them. 6 more months will unfortunately mean nothing. The best option is to move on to some other software. Plex is done.
Same here, I don’t have it yet, the announcement about it coming was a few months ago, now.
