The “Ok” button on the remote control is not recognized on Plex HTPC on Windows 10

Hello,

I recently purchased the G10S Pro Air Mouse Remote Control on Amazon to use with Plex HTPC on Windows 10.

All buttons are recognized and work perfectly in the interface and the player except the “Ok” button located in the center which does not seem to be associated.

I did disable the Air Mouse function to only use the remote keys (and not the cursor) and that did not solve the problem.

I then searched in the Input Maps .JSON files to try to assign the key but I do not see which file could represent the remote control. Also, I tried to search for the “name”, “idmatcher” and “mapping” in the Plex HTPC log file, but I do not find anything related to the remote control. However, it is well detected and functional, only the “Ok” button does not work.

Is there a solution to map the “Ok” button?

I attach the last log file used with the remote control.

Many thanks !

Do you have an idea what the “Menu” button could be? Could this be your OK button?

Oct 28, 2024 14:38:11.508 [7000] DEBUG - [InputManager] Input received: source: Keyboard keycode: Menu:3
Oct 28, 2024 14:38:11.508 [7000] DEBUG - [InputManager] No match for: Menu

Is there a separate Enter/Return button?
Apparently such a button was recognized at least once:

Oct 28, 2024 14:38:42.103 [7000] DEBUG - [InputManager] Input received: source: Keyboard keycode: Return:3
Oct 28, 2024 14:38:42.153 [7000] DEBUG - [InputManager] Input received: source: Keyboard keycode: Return:1
Oct 28, 2024 14:38:42.153 [7000] DEBUG - [InputManager] Emit input action (short):enter
Oct 28, 2024 14:38:42.153 [7000] INFO - [InputManager] [InputConnector] Sending actions to UI: ["enter"]

Well I think in the previous log I accidentally used the keyboard with it, so maybe that explains why there are some keyboard entries in the log ?

Here is the new log where only the remote control is used at 100% and nothing else (with the Air Mouse function to control the cursor for some interactions since the OK button does not work).

The weird part is that it didn’t detect any joystick even though the remote is recognized and usable in Plex HTPC :

Oct 28, 2024 16:52:06.743 [8268] INFO - [Input/SDL] Found 0 joysticks

I admit that I am completely lost and that I don’t know what to do to find a solution.

Apparently your device is not sending a keycode that can be recognized by Plex HTPC.
Maybe try putting it into a different compatibility mode where it tries to emulate other devices.

A joystick is a joystick. A remote control is not a joystick.

I made a youtube video if that helps :

The red LED on the remote control lights up when you press the OK button so I presume that this is not due to a hardware problem.

There is just a problem associating the button with Plex somewhere but impossible to find what is wrong.

I tested Plex HTPC with all compatibility modes (Windows Vista, 7 and 8) with and without “run as administrator” and it still does not work.

I didn’t insinuate that you have a hardware defect.
Plex HTPC cannot detect any input devices other than

i.e. a computer keyboard, Windows Media Player compatible buttons (which can be on various devices, including remote controls but also “multimedia” keyboards), and a HDMI CEC remote control (this is a way to send button presses from the remote control of a connected TV device over the HDMI port into your computer. But it requires an additional HDMI CEC adapter, because it’s not by default built into regular graphics adapters).

Whatever your Airmouse is doing, it is not communicating with Plex HTPC like a regular remote control. If it emulates a regular mouse, I guess it can only send mouse button presses. But there is no official mouse support in Plex HTPC.
You should consult the user manual of that device, to find out whether it can be configured to emulate an actual remote control, or a computer keyboard.
The key presses which do come through, are all identified as coming from a regular keyboard.

I see. I will check if there is a way to emulate the device. Thank you for the help and information provided.

Get a new remote.
i ordered one and it had the same problem.
The fix is to return it and get some other brand.
Rii MX3 Multifunction 2.4G Fly Mouse
That is the one I got based on someone on reddit saying it worked. It is like 12 usd something.
Not exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a much simpler remote.

Hmm ok, I’m going to look into that. Thanks
