I was an early adopter of Plex probably over 8-10 years ago. Back in the day, I ripped my DVD library via WinxDVD to .avi and then mp4 files. They stream just fine. However, it has come to my attention that there is a way to rip a DVD that it will play in Plex as a DVD, with options to select subtitles, go to chapters, etc. Is anyone doing this who can share their process? I’ve tried MKV and it just hangs. My hardware is an HP Z800 server running windows 10 12core 24 thread Xeon processors, 32GB RAM streaming predominantly to a firestick TV (I have 2 firesticks and one amazon fire TV). I only have 1 blu-ray movie, and I downloaded the digital copy, but I included it in this topic in case anyone had any suggestions for a blu-ray drive and software for that too.

I second the MakeMKV motion.
if you are referring to the dvd/bluray menus that provide easy access to subs/chapters/etc, then plex does NOT support any of those.
those were only available via .ISO files and programs like kodi that can read them (plex cannot/will not).
as far as ripping for today, use makemkv.
this will rip the content without modifying or shrinking/losing quality.
if you do want to shrink and reduce quality, use something like handbrake to convert after using makemkv.
use google to figure out how to use the above tools, there are many guides and other forums that cater to those processes.
