The Server Version is not High Enough

Server Version#: 1.23.1
Player Version#: 6.7.24

Trying to set up a new TCL Roku TV to play stuff off of my PC’s Plex server.
I’m not a math expert, but still…

I was previously running an outdated server version below the 1.18.3 that it was asking for, but I then updated. And this error’s popping up.

I’ve also allowed fallback unsecure connections on the local network, still no joy.
And there are no other Plex servers on the network.
In my “Authorized Devices” it’s only this PC, Chrome, and that TV.

Anything that I’m missing?

look in your authorized devices and see if you still have your old 1.18 server there and remove it if it is by clicking on the red x. I have a feeling something is cached somewhere

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

Alas, no joy.
It was just the one that’s updated. I tried removing it and re-claiming it, though, to see if there was a change.
Again, no joy there, either.
The error still remains.

can you try resetting customizations. it will be an option when you select your username on the top of sidebar. or maybe sign out and back in.

I just performed both actions, and then restarted the TV.
No change in error message. :frowning:
It’s still wanting higher than 1.18.3, and then tells me that I’m running 1.23.1.
Maybe it can’t math?

ok can you turn on logging then go to some other source and back so we can maybe see what the issue is in logs.

Pull the power plug … Roku OS 9.X would remember things without a good way to exit and clear except by pulling the power cable (even “restart” via menu wasn’t the same) - the new OS 10 has “fast load” feature so might be remembering even more.

I’ve had to pull the power to get a real reset … worth a shot in this odd situation.

I’d actually turned on logging before posting here, so there should be some juicy data there.
logs.txt (87.9 KB)

Something strange, though: If I go to my PC, I can cast to my TV. I just can’t select things from the TV.
Going to pull the power on said television now…

those look like the web app logs.

if you turned on local logging in roku app then it should have a URL on the settings page to go to on your computer.
if you turned on remote logging in roku app then I need to ask one of our Roku devs to look them up

…And it looked like pulling the plug on the TV fixed it…

So. Looks like Roku’s fast-load caching is the culprit.
Yay.

Ahh. You’re right, BigWheel.
I didn’t have local logging turned on from the TV. I just had it turned on server-side.
It probably won’t help if I turned it on now, though, so I’ll just leave it alone.

Right?!

It’s been an odd thing with Roku devices for years. I stopped even bothering with the restart in the menu, I pull the cable first thing anytime “weird” happens and THEN start troubleshooting.

Glad you got it sorted.

Edit: The new “fast load” feature definitely is nice though - Plex load time was cut in half for me so overall a good improvement.
