Theme Music garbled and needs to be a system wide setting to disable

The theme music on all my devices is garbled and loud. I have to go in and turn off the feature on each device and signin. I have to do this everytime I add a new device to the server which is quite annoying. I have tried to figure out what the problem is with no solution found. I can get it to work right with local theme files, but I don’t want to do that for every TV show. Can you change this so the “feature” is disabled once at the server level?

There’s no centralized way to do that.
Theme songs are detected when add media or refresh their metadata. The decision if / at what volume to play them is a per-user / per-device configuration.

I’m not quite sure what you mean by themes being “garbled”?!

It is a load bunch of pops and crackles, like the audio amp was trying to play a text file or the file lost part of the header that told the program how to play it.

Is this theme files you added locally to your media or some of the ones coming from Plex?
Can you give an example for which shows you experience this?

So I went back and checked some of the shows. I thought it was all of them but it is not. I guess I turned off the feature as soon as it happened because it is jarring to hear. I just checked a couple to see if they were ones that I recorded with the DVR feature or Playon. It doesn’t seem to matter which way they were recorded. Some of the shows are Maverick, Jonny Quest, and Matlock (on this one I can hear singing behind the pops). It is the sound files from Plex.

I just added some fake files to my library to get Plex to play those themes.
They seemed ok to me (no pops, no voices singing).

Can you double-check there’s no “theme.mp3” files in your folders? Maybe there’s some tool in your process downloading themes for you?!
