I upgraded to the 1.2.1 and any new MKV files I add to my library display the error “There was a problem playing this item” I at first thought the files were the problem so I remade a bluray movie using makemkv still same error. I downgraded to 1.1.4 and all the files played without issue. I then upgraded back to 1.2.1 all the files now play. I ripped another movie tonight and 1.2.1 again displayed problem playing the file. Seems any new MKV movie added with 1.2.1 gives an error and a simple downgrade rescan fixes them. Anyone have any similar issue or know where to look next.

Plex Media Server 1.2.2 is now available for Plex Pass members.
Get that, yes i know there’s is only a minor update, but best to work off of updated software. -
What are you trying to play your files on, what client, also are you using direct play? transcoding?
-
have you tried playing the video on a different client?
-
check the logs to see if there is an error when you play the file. If you are not for sure on how to read the post, you can post them for a dev to see.
- Updating to the new version now.
- I am playing them on chrome through local access using http://enternalip:port/web
- I just check android app it plays the file one. Also just tried using app.plex.tv and it also played fine so seems to be something with local access.
- this is all the log shows

Same issue using 1.2.2.2857, works in Chromecast but fire TV says cannot play whereas the same file played previously. On android tablet one of the same files reboots it which is very odd but will ignore that for now.
Where are the previous 2 versions so I can downgrade and test ?

I’ve had problems on Fire TV and Nexus Player ever since upgrading to 1.2.2.2857
Can’t play files and/or they stop early and the skip forward and back don’t skip around correctly. Something is funky for sure.
Downgraded to public release and all working again, just uninstall then install 1.1.4, nothing lost I don’t think.
Installed 1.2.2 almost same issue. But it will actually start playing after a complete scan. If you start a scan and it adds a new item the item is not playable until the scan completes for the whole library section. Guess maybe 1.2.x moved some items around. You use to be able to play right as the scanner scanned the item.
here is more of the log file if anyone is interested.

I did the same, all seems to be working again.
Hi guys. That does appear to be a problem, but I’m not able to reproduce. Can either or all of you guys provide me the full log file? Thanks.

I"ve had the problem with PMS v1.22 playing/transcoding videos to iOS clients that PMS 0.9 and 1.1 PMS version was able to transcode just fine…
