Sudden Plex error playing specific videos!

Player Version#: 8.12.2.22756 (Android TV Box)

Hello,
I suddenly have problems playing specific videos, that were fine for a long time!!
The error I’m seeing in this:
"An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again."

This happened three days ago. I updated the server and I also cleared any data for the player with no luck!
Tried changing various settings but it kept happening. Most of the MKVs couldn’t be played, while some AVIs were playing fine. Everything has been working fine at least a year now that I’ve setup this android box.
Only when I uninstalled the application things went to normal again.
Yesterday the problem appeared again!!! Note that the same files play fine from an old Samsung Plex player and also from the web, so it can’t be a server issue!

In the attached logs I tried playing a video that failed with the above reason, which was playing fine a day ago!
I also tried playing another video that played successfully.

Any help is welcome, since this is quite a weird problem that happens suddenly without changing anything!!!

I have problems as well. 4K HDR MKVs which played just fine before the new release now won’t play…

This sucks and I hope a bug fix is released very soon!

Well after a few uninstalls of the application I got it to work again!

It seems that when it fails it tries to transcode the video, while normally it uses Direct Play.
And I’ve read quite a lot of issues here regarding Direct Play failing and resulting to an error.
Can someone confirm this and advise what to do? Is this a known issue?
How does it happen, given that nothing is changed on the server or the client ?

It’s a client (Android TV App) issue, looks like they have pulled 8.12 again and are working on a fix
