TheTVDB V3

It seems as TheTVDB got a new version with a lot of changes: https://www.thetvdb.com/blog/something_new

Most remarkable for me:

  • they now have movies
  • they offer “flexible” seasons where order of episodes could be changed by moderators

Why comments on if and how Plex might support the new features of Thetvdb?

Finally!! They added season numbers back when viewing all seasons.

They did a lot of stuff obviously, and the lead programmer got hired full time, which is good news for TheTVDB I believe. He somehow got bought by tvtime if I understood this correctly, what this means for the whole project I am not sure. Currently, it seems to be a massive improvement of the site overall.

Well… We’ll see. I won’t give my verdict until I create/add/edit content. I do hope they fixed the annoying year bug! That’s a killer.

You see, I am more optimistic

This is nice!! A nice dynamic drop-down search.

I already spotted that, so much better than before. Welcome to 2019 thetvdb

It’s a total shambles. Guessing that programmer is going to get fired full time.

I added a new TV series this morning, (Fat Albert). It picked up the episode names, but none of the artwork. When you click on posters, it’s just blank.

Tried clearing the cache and that didn’t fix it either.

EDIT:
OK, seems that the right people are aware of it and hopefully are working on it. See this thread…

Hello,

As you know, we switched over to the new site on Monday morning, and took both API versions live at different times.

Unfortunately we’ve had reports of from some of our valued API partners running into major issues with the API. While we were getting close to fixing all critical issues related to the website and data, negatively affecting our API users is not acceptable. As a result, we’ve rolled back both the site and the API. We’ll be putting together a revised rollout plan early next week to come up with a solution that will be more suitable for everyone involved.

Thank you for your patience the past few days. We’ll make sure we keep you updated as we move forward.
