This needs to change: Posting links to old Plex versions prohibited

Sometimes it is necessary to roll back to an earlier version of Plex. For all kinds of reasons. Unfortunately, Plex no longer offers to download older versions (not even the previous one) from their website. For who knows why.

Then people start searching all over the place to find a download link. Sometimes, those links are posted here (good and recent example is this forum post.

However, the moderators here have been told that they have to remove all links to previous versions. No explanation given. And that’s what they do.

Plex, this is - and I am sorry to have to be blunt - ridiculous!

Either give us a way to access the old versions (after all, the old links - if you know them - still work, so the files are still being hosted on your servers), or at least allow us to post links to them. There is an obvious requirement that people sometimes have to roll back. Don’t make it a hassle (and next to impossible).

Just search this forum for “old version” and you will be amazed how many posts you will find with people looking for an older version.

I took the liberty to tag this as Feature Suggestions to trigger the Voting System

Voted… I completely agree… Plex keeps the files out there and if you know the full version number you can still get it… All they would have to do is make an extra page which links out to them… Almost every company that offers just digital software has a previous version links…

Since I have needed to roll back and the lack of customer service plex provides has now made me start storing every version of PMS. Until Plex spends the 5 minutes to build a previous download page I recommend to everyone to keep a copy of every PMS version you download.
