Hello, im starting learn about plex and i am stuck, i can do working my library but now show almost ever this message “this server is not powerful enough”, i think the config is good, quality = maximun, and the right check, I’ve been learning how to set it up all day.
I have a drive cloud, but the problem continues from phisical drive too.
Can you tell me anything more i can do to fix that?
Most of the time, this error message means just what it says.
For some reason, your server considers it needs to transcode your media in order to stream it. Transcoding a video in real-time can be rather demanding to your system – it’ll be too much for some (e.g. NAS hosted or low-power PMS)… especially if it involves high-quality or high-resolution videos (e.g. 4K HDR).
In exceptions you can get this error message by mistake. This can happen if the Plex player notices it’s not getting the stream packages in real-time and concludes this must be due to the server not being powerful enough to deliver them… though sometimes it’s just the network bandwidth that’s not good enough.
I see now just a few clips fails to run, almost all work fine… for now, i will try some days, but idk why doesn’t work well before.
I can say it was for limit/day bandwitch google drive, but the video files loaded from the HDD doesn’t work neither…
Well, thanks any way, and in a few days i will comment again how it working for me.
That CPU should be powerful enough to handle several 1080p encodes – but it’ll barely be able to do the same for a 4K HEVC stream (if transcoding is required).
When it comes to high-quality files… those also need a lot of network bandwidth – more than the average 100 Mbps Ethernet port can cover that’s built in most smart TVs (if that’s your current use case).
You can find some useful information about an ongoing stream on the server’s dashboard. There are some “now playing” tiles for each active stream that show if certain aspects of the video are being transcoded and how it’s streamed (e.g. local vs. remote vs. indirect).
