This server is unclaimed and not secure

Server Version#: 1.15.2.793
Player Version#: 3.83.1

I’m not sure what happened (I had a power break, so suspect it may have caused something, not sure, though), but all of a sudden, Plex would show me two instances of my PMS. It would break all kinds of things: settings would not display (No soup for you errors are really funny), I could not open any libraries (the home screen would stay on the same page), etc.

I saw a recommendation to remove the server from the authorized devices list, which I did. It left the only one working PMS instance, but now it shows me the message:

This server is unclaimed and not secure: Claiming this server will associate it with your Plex account. This helps your devices find each other and helps keep your media safe.

Remote access is also broken. I can only use the server locally. Error:

Not available outside your network: First sign in to access your server from anywhere.

If I click the sign in link, it just takes me to general settings (since I am already signed in). If I click the CLAIM SERVER button, I get two instances of the same server back, so it’s back to the original problem.

Tried all kinds of things: restored from backup, went back a version, but after six hours or so, got nothing. I saw a few posts about the same issue, but could not find any resolution. I double checked to make sure I do not have another instance of the PMS running.

I attached Plex Media Server logs (one non-debug, another debug; I masked my email address in the log):

Plex Media Server.log (10.0 KB)
Plex Media Server.DEBUG.log (112.1 KB)

Please, help!

I made this message go away by going to account, signing out, then signing in again.

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you mean, you signed out of the Plex web app? Tried it and it didn’t do anything to me. Once logged off, I was still able to see the libraries. Tried it in Chrome and Edge. Edge told me that an unclaimed server was found on my network. Chrome had the regular unclaimed server message.

I’m having the same issue, thought with an Ubuntu install. I noticed this line in the logs

ERROR - PublicAddressManager: Unable to get public IP adddress from myPlex (httpCode=408):

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-03-27_01-17-52.zip (3.8 MB)

I’ve also noticed that on trying to go to plex.tv from my server hosting plex, it gets a timeout. But I can access plex.tv from other devices
And the timeout is gone - can access plex.tv from my server. Still can’t claim the server.

Saw in wiki that perhaps it’s a timezone problem, but time appears to be correct. I’m in Seattle, and it’s 9:02am at time of writing

Similar issue here. Mine started with Remote Access issues. I tried a bunch of things to restore it without luck. Then I noticed there was a little yellow warning triangle on the General Settings page over my user account avatar. I figured there might be some authentication issue with my account, which would potentially break remote access. So I signed out on my server, and now I can’t claim it. I get the Unclaimed Media Server warning box and attempt to claim it, but it doesn’t claim. The web application shows that I’m signed in.

Right now the issues is caused by outages on Plex Server side.

Investigating - We are investigating issues with slow responses and timeouts from the authentication and API server.

Same here. I’m glad I can fall back on Emby.

Looks like we’re hosed. Anyone knows how to open a support ticket with Plex?

I have the same issue. Fresh ubuntu 18.04 install tested on two computers both using wired connection.

Here is paste from log file: https://pastebin.com/zDKbgatd

Seems like the error is timeout-related (408)

Holy moley, I think I fixed it.

Here is what I did:

  • Opened the local Plex instance from the system tray (127.0.0.1:3240).
  • Switched to settings and clicked the CLAIM SERVER link. Got the “No soup for you” error.
  • Restarted Plex Media Server.
  • Opened the local instance from the system tray again. My server was gone (I expected to see two instances, but instead none of mine appeared).
  • Logged off, logged on, and voila: my one and only server instance was there, nice and shiny. Remote access is fixed, too.

So I’m back, baby!

Hope it helps someone.
