Time Sync and metadata broadcasting / syncing?

Hi Guys!

I'm working on a technical problem for my startup called Spoilr.tv and could use your help.

We allow for a chat system that time sync's with video content.  This is a way to kill spoilers, place jokes in the ideal spot in videos, etc.  And the chat runs on mobile phones / tablets, while the video content plays on the TV.

It's kinda like twitter for netflix.

So...here's the problem:

Because the chat time sync's with the video content...we are looking for a way to make this easy.  DIAL would be great, but it doesn't provide the plugs that we need, and currently we're asking them to expand the protocol.  Until then...

Does PLEX allow for any kind of time sync and metadata syncing in any form?  We are hoping that we can pull the following content from the roku, the server, or whatever:

the video content's metadata (what's playing)

the time position that the viewer / user is at currently

Any help, thoughts, ideas, etc would be of great value!

Also...if not...does anyone know who we could contact at PLEX to try and ask them to give that info via the wifi for our users if we made a PLEX app or something?

Thanks in advance guys!

The "Now Playing" timeline info provided by PMS might work for you.
